The Leaders Council of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is talking to leadership figures from across the nation in an attempt to understand this universal trait and what it means today.
Our CEO, Brenda, of East Cheshire Housing Consortium (ECHC) was invited onto an episode of the podcast, hosted by Matthew O’Neill and including an interview with Lord Blunkett.
In the podcast, Brenda highlighted the importance in leadership of open channels of communication, regular two-way discussions with her team and the need for transparency. She paid tribute to her Chairman and Board of Directors, with whom she has worked closely over the last twelve years. In addition, she mentioned the encouragement she gained from being a member of Vistage, a peer support group of seniors managers from various sectors.
Lord Blunkett, chairman of The Leaders Council said, ‘I think the most informative element of each episode is the first part, where Matthew O’Neill is able to sit down with someone who really gets how their industry works and knows how to make their organisation tick. Someone who’s there day in day out working hard and inspiring others. That’s what leadership is all about.’
Brenda commented, “Running care homes during the pandemic was obviously challenging but we experienced no shortage of PPE and were able to continue operating throughout. Our services remained in high demand and we even opened a new five bed 24hr female house during lockdown. The communication and support from Cheshire East were excellent.”
David Rutley MP said, ‘Seeing Brenda participate in the Leaders Council’s Parliamentary podcast alongside Lord Blunkett, is a real tribute to her skills and experience as a leader, and to the important work that she and her team at ECHC are undertaking in our local communities.’
